My vitiligo

I just created this blog to share my story, experiences, and about how I manage my vitiligo. I got this skin disorder when I was nineteen. In the beginning I did not noticed my white patches as those were very light. But when these patches started becoming more and more prominent I noticed it on my forehead and my forearm. I was stunned as I am very conscious about my appearance so this patch became a psychic trauma for me coz I had heard before, that vitiligo has no cure. I started getting absent from my college and just stayed at my home for the whole day.

One of my friends referred me a concealer from Dermablend. I just used this concealer to mask vitiligo and also started looking for a re-pigmentation treatment that is effective. During my search for vitiligo re-pigmentation I came across a treatment which was a combination of psoralen and phototherapy. Its common name was PUVA (Psoralen Ultra Violet A). Then I just asked more and more people about this treatment and I got to know that its cost was approx 900 to 1400 dollars which may exceed on the number of phototherapy sessions. So I eliminated this treatment from my list because of the hassle of going to doctors.

But after few days I got to know that I can also get phototherapy at my home using portable UV lamp. I just bought a UV lamp and antivitiligo herbal oil that contained psoralen as its ingredient. The combination of this oil and phototherapy proved the best therapy as it gave me complete re-pigmentation within three months.

In the beginning I did not find it useful because I did not notice any difference in my skin color but my uncle told me that this is slow process and you have to use it for a longer period to see results. I just want to advise you should not discourage because of vitiligo as many solutions are present out there and you just have to select the right one that suits your skin and your budget.
